Wayland Housing Authority recognizes Bent Park Resident Council in 4-0 vote

WAYLAND — November 29, 2022 — Wayland Housing Authority recognizes Bent Park Resident Council and approves 2023 budget. The board voted 4-0, with Commissioner Russell Ashton abstaining, to recognize the five-member council under 24 CFR 964 as the official voice of residents at the 56-unit development. Council president Kathy Godd and Margarita Morales of the Mass Union of Public Housing Tenants presented bylaws drawn from a HUD-vetted template; Chair Susan Weinstein flagged the lack of staggered terms and English-only notices but said "we want to work together." Commissioners also approved a calendar-year 2023 operating budget that pulls about $280,713 from reserves, including $60,000 for a new plow truck and $30,000 for scattered-site boiler replacements, and wrote off $543.17 in uncollectable rent. Executive Director Brian Boggia reported a HUD inspection score of 93 out of 100.
