Wayland Housing Authority approves kitchen overhaul design and new auditor

WAYLAND — January 18, 2024 — Wayland Housing Authority green-lights $22,500 kitchen design contract for Cochituate Village. Commissioners unanimously approved the contract with Andrew Brockway to launch an estimated $800,000 to $900,000 renovation of roughly 55 units, replacing countertops, cabinets, sinks and floors that Executive Director Brian Boggia said still feature original 1984 orange countertops. The board also hired EFPR Group of Williamsburg, N.Y., as its new auditor for $23,300 — the only bidder through the state central register — and approved a $4,200 contract with Doucette Engineering to design a replacement septic system at 268 Main Street, where the failed tank was "caked to the top with grease." Commissioners gave Boggia a 6.5 percent raise, below the 7 percent received by office staff. Tenant accounts receivable have climbed to 18.73 percent, well above HUD's 10 percent threshold, though HUD designated the authority a high performer for 2023.
