Wayland Housing Authority approves $351,000 plan to renovate 45 kitchens

WAYLAND — May 23, 2024 — Wayland Housing Authority reelects officers and approves $351,000 kitchen overhaul. At its May 23 annual meeting, the board reelected its sitting chair by acclamation, elected Mary Yancey vice chair, reelected Russ as treasurer, and reappointed Catherine Provost to the Housing Partnership. New commissioner Denise was seated, and outgoing member Kevin was recognized for more than 10 years of service. Executive Director Brian said the Authority's $351,000 capital grant will fund renovations to 45 of 55 kitchens at Cochituate Village beginning in late August, each taking roughly a week after asbestos flooring abatement. The board approved bill warrants of $61,800.15 for March and approximately $84,000 for April; the latter included a $24,000 Bent Park water bill that town Water Commissioners agreed to abate by about $16,000. Brian also flagged a projected Section 8 shortfall of more than $7,000 and said HUD has again designated the Authority a "high performer."
