WAYLAND — November 21, 2024 — Wayland Housing Authority approves $85,507 warrant as kitchen renovations hit code-driven electrical snag. Executive Director Brian Boggia told commissioners at the Nov. 21 meeting that arc-fault circuit interrupters required by current code are tripping in roughly half a dozen recently renovated units, calling it "an industry-wide problem" he "didn't anticipate." One tenant is running a microwave from a living-room outlet and another a refrigerator on an extension cord while an electrician troubleshoots; a fix may require putting kitchen outlets on a dedicated circuit through a change order. The board unanimously approved the October bill warrant of $85,507.71 and a debit card warrant of $865.14 by roll call, and corrected the prior month's minutes to reflect a debit card warrant of $1,290.45. Boggia also flagged a nearly $6,000 unpaid water bill, mostly penalties and interest, on a Hammond Road unit.
