WAYLAND — April 23, 2024 — Wayland Housing Authority signs onto 25-year solar deal and a $734,700 kitchen overhaul. Commissioners chaired by Susan Weinstein voted to enter a power purchase agreement with Sunwealth for a roughly 20-kilowatt ballasted rooftop array at Cochituate Village Apartments, contingent on HUD approval; the locked-in rate of 13.37 cents per kilowatt-hour is projected to save about $55,000 over the contract life and offset just over 10 percent of building usage. Walter of Power Options said national HUD "won't give us a blanket waiver," forcing project-by-project applications. The board then accepted the sole bid for kitchen renovations from Brockton-based Verrica Construction at $734,700 — including a $77,800 electrical sub-bid — against an roughly $780,000 estimate, with an option to add up to eight third-floor units.
