Council on Aging weighs town meeting article for transportation grant matches

WAYLAND — May 9, 2023 — Wayland Council on Aging weighs town meeting article to match transportation grants. Director Julie Secord told the board Tuesday she wants to pursue a collaborative grant with Sudbury, and possibly Lincoln, through the MWRTA, but said one funding source requires a 50 percent local match her operational budget cannot cover. "I can't absorb that out of an operational budget," she said, floating a revolving account funded by warrant article ahead of the January 15 deadline. Vice Chair William Sterling reported the town's TEC traffic study endorsed roughly 100 parking spaces and curb cuts at Andrew Avenue or Lillian Road for the new Council on Aging Community Center, but rejected a Route 20 curb cut. Bids are expected out in July, with construction starting in early fall and occupancy roughly two years away. The board unanimously reappointed Joan Bradford as its Senior Tax Relief Committee liaison.
