Wayland subcommittee finalizes superintendent's team-building goal language

WAYLAND — December 12, 2022 — Wayland's Superintendent Evaluation Subcommittee finalized Goal 3 language and approved Oct. 27 minutes at a Dec. 12 working session. Superintendent Parry Graham presented revised wording committing her to "develop a highly functioning team of administrators by building trust, increasing mutual accountability, and collaboration," after rejecting a suggestion to frame the goal as trust between her and 22 administrators. "You can't measure feeling," Graham told the subcommittee, which agreed measurement would rely on evidence from activities, surveys, a recurring "hourglass" administrator exercise and a book-study presentation. Members also discovered they were working from two different versions of the state superintendent evaluation rubric — an element-level version and a newer condensed draft — and tasked Graham with reconciling them. She will focus her standards on 1B, 2B, 2E, 3A and two Standard 4 indicators.
