Wayland Board of Health approves three sets of minutes, hears development pipeline

WAYLAND — December 12, 2022 — Wayland Board of Health tracks crowded housing pipeline and contamination at former DPW site. Meeting on Dec. 12 under Chair Dr. Bob DeFrancesco, the board heard the health director outline pending projects including a roughly 60-unit Cascade development at the former Whole Foods plaza, a 45-to-64-unit addition at St. Anne's Church, renovation of 12 homes at the former Nike site on Launcher Way, and a Mendler Woods subdivision on Shaw Drive. The state has issued a notice of responsibility tied to exploratory testing by CMG Environmental at 195 Main Street, the former DPW site eyed for grass athletic fields. The department is preparing legal orders on four vacant properties — 212 Cochituate Road, 33 White Road, 38 Aqueduct Road and 74 Plain Road — and reported 85 signups for a Dec. 15 flu and COVID-19 clinic. Members voted 5-0 to approve minutes from May 9, Aug. 15 and Sept. 19.
