Wayland Housing Authority approves $198,000 June bill warrant

WAYLAND — July 25, 2023 — Wayland Housing Authority approves $198,000 warrant, slams Oxbow's tiered rent hike and chronic Bent Park flooding. The board unanimously approved a $197,987.04 June bill warrant and a $538.97 debit card warrant at its July 25 meeting, with Chair Susan Weinstein, Mary Anties and Kevin Goodwin voting yes. Executive Director Brian Boggia reported a second flood in two weeks at Bent Park sent water 18 inches up a door and into a tenant's apartment, forcing a relocation; he has asked DPW Director Tom Holder for a written plan to fix drainage problems Boggia said have festered for 20 years across three DPW directors. Commissioners also objected to an Oxbow Road proposal of 8 percent rent increases on non-subsidized affordable units but 24 percent on Section 8 units, which Anties called "discriminating." The Bent Park fire alarm upgrade is nearly complete and has passed inspections.
