Wayland assessors approve $156,800 excise commitment in brief remote meeting

WAYLAND — August 1, 2023 — Wayland assessors approve $156,800 excise commitment and reschedule August meeting. The Board of Assessors, meeting remotely Aug. 1 with Vice-Chair Philip David Parks acting as chair, unanimously approved a fiscal 2024 fourth motor vehicle and trailer excise commitment of $156,800.69 to Collector of Taxes Brittany Marcoccio, along with 27 July excise abatements totaling $3,734.75. Members Steven Klitgord and Zachariah L. Ventress joined Parks on the roll calls. Staff said a personal property vendor is canvassing town businesses this week as part of the Department of Local Services recertification. The town building is running a five-week pilot schedule — Monday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday until 5:30 p.m., closed Fridays — that the administration hopes to extend to "the entire summer on a four-day workweek" next year. The board moved its next meeting from Aug. 22 to Wednesday, Aug. 23.
