Wayland building committee approves $95,291 community center change order

WAYLAND — June 4, 2024 — Wayland building committee approves $95,291 change order and advances three stalled projects. The Permanent Municipal Building Committee on June 4 recommended Change Order No. 1 on the Council on Aging community center, bundling a $28,411 water-service reroute, $29,524 in sewer revisions, a $6,553 grease-trap relocation and roughly $10,000 in lighting substitutions. Members warned that substantial completion has slipped from Dec. 2 to Feb. 6 and that the contractor is positioned to file delay claims over soil stockpiles awaiting DPW approval. "You're creating a delay claim right now," member Eric said, urging staff to issue an ultimatum. The committee also accepted a revised $202,975 library proposal from consultant Kim Buell after stripping $13,900 in mechanical design, and noted Cape Cod Builders has signed the Stonebridge rebuild contract with a 38 percent contingency against a $400,000 appropriation.
