Wayland building committee approves change order, demands faster pace at Council on Aging site

WAYLAND — August 27, 2024 — Wayland building committee demands daily manpower logs as Council on Aging project falls behind. The Permanent Municipal Building Committee on Tuesday approved a $31,908 change order and a $63,270.76 amendment to HDR City Point Partners' owner's project manager contract, plus a $38,500 testing allowance, but warned that cumulative billings of about $5 million through July trail an original $9 million target on the $12.5 million project. Member Brian called a Dec. 19–26 final paving window "a recipe for failure," and another member told HDR project manager Kim that "the dollars don't lie" and monthly requisitions must hit $1.5 million by October. The committee avoided a $90,000 sprinkler change order after the Fire Department agreed to approve the original UL-certified design, and expects $60,000 to $70,000 to return to contingency from the $130,000 soil-handling reserve.
