WAYLAND -- May 8, 2023, Wayland Trust Fund Commission elects new chair and approves $55,000 cemetery disbursement. Meeting remotely May 8, the three-member panel unanimously elected Barry Rothschild as chair through the 2024 annual town meeting, replacing Nicole Sissel, who left after Town Meeting. Acting chair Adam Garrett Gutbezahl, who nominated Rothschild, said rotating the role helps prevent "brain drain" and committed to taking the chair himself next year. The commission welcomed new member Jerry Reed, elected by write-in, and approved DPW Director Tom Holder's routine $55,000 draw from the Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, valued at roughly $1.7 million, on a 3-0 roll-call vote. A separate $6,150 Greaves Fund invoice from the schools' cultural enrichment committee for Ball in the House performances at three elementary schools was tabled until July pending a cover letter explaining the request.
