Trust Fund Commission approves $350 for Wayland library concert

WAYLAND — November 17, 2025 — Wayland's Trust Fund Commission approved a $350 disbursement for a library concert and reviewed a $5.7 million portfolio. Members voted 3-0 to release funds from the Gossels Human Dignity Fund to cover Native American singer-songwriter Thea Hopkins's Nov. 2 performance at the Wayland Public Library, after Chair Robert Fox confirmed the fee came in below the $500 trustees had authorized. Kathleen of Bartholomew & Company reported the combined trust portfolio stood at $5.69 million on Oct. 31, with a 6.83 percent annualized return since 2013 and a 4.39 percent fiscal-year gain, while warning the firm has tilted toward "higher quality" holdings ahead of an expected market turn. Member Adam Garrett Gutbezahl disclosed he is researching a possible new trust fund to support Recreation Department athletic-field maintenance, potentially via a special act at town meeting. Member Barry Rothschild seconded both votes.
