Wayland selectmen tee up $482,000 athletic fields design article for fall meeting

WAYLAND -- August 7, 2017, Wayland selectmen preview $482,000 athletic fields design article and back Sudbury bus parking lease. The Board of Selectmen on Monday unanimously appointed former Board of Health Chair Thomas Clem to the Conservation Commission through June 2020 and previewed a Nov. 14 special town meeting warrant led by a joint School Committee–Recreation Commission article funding design of stadium renovations ($202,000), a softball–tennis court swap out of the Happy Hollow Zone 1 ($126,000) and a second synthetic turf field at Loker ($154,000), against a roughly $7.4 million construction estimate. School Committee member Jeanne Downs warned "the fields can fail" if design work waits until spring. The board also received the School Committee's recommendation to lease bus parking from HDR Holdings in Sudbury at $190,000, $195,700 and $201,571 over three years, about $51,000 a year below a $241,180 First Student bid, and heard Planning Board Chair Dan Hill propose an ad hoc town advisory group to support the ZBA on two pending 40B applications.
