Wayland selectmen authorize $2.4 million MassWorks application for Route 20 water main
WAYLAND -- July 31, 2017, Wayland selectmen authorize $2.4 million MassWorks grant bid for Route 20 water main. The board, meeting with three of five members present, voted to submit the application, Wayland's fourth attempt at MassWorks funding after denials in 2011, 2012 and 2014, to replace two cast-iron water mains more than a century old with a single 12-inch line extending to the planned 188-unit River's Edge development. The town planner pegged total project cost at roughly $3.3 million and said state reviewers advised keeping the request under $2.5 million; awards from the $70 million statewide pool are expected in October. The same meeting unanimously approved a $24,031 transportation agreement with Weston to bus 10 Wayland students to Minuteman, capped at $2,600 per student, and a change of liquor license manager at the 110 Grill to General Manager Christine Barone. Kathy Tregolo was appointed to a three-year term on the Cultural Council.
