Wayland board backs $6,000 for dialogue programs
Select Board · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Wayland Select Board approves $6,000 for dialogue programs as audit committee drops to one member. The board voted 5-0 on the Human Rights, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee request, covering two programs totaling $8,000 with Wayland Public Schools paying $2,000; the committee's full-year expense budget is $32,000. Town Manager Michael McCall warned against a recurring line item, saying he is "always cautious about making certain commitments and setting precedent." Audit committee member Klaus Shigley told the board the five-member committee is down to one and needs three for a quorum, calling elimination "the last resort." Auditor CBIZ issued no management letter, and guaranteed deposits fell from roughly $622,000 to about $503,000.
The board also appointed Jim Corrigan to the Zoning Board of Appeals, 5-0.
