WAYLAND -- June 19, 2017, Wayland selectmen lock in March 27 election and April 2 town meeting in 3-2 vote. The Board of Selectmen approved the 2018 calendar Monday after rejecting later options that conflicted with high school concerts or April vacation. Mary Antes moved the earlier dates, seconded by Cherry Karlson; two members preferred a post-vacation schedule but offered no alternative motion. Board member Doug Levine separately reported Wayland received a $250,000 Green Communities grant at a State House ceremony, funds earmarked for electric vehicles, charging stations, street light conversion and a hybrid bus conversion. The board also unanimously approved a new flat-base ambulance fee structure proposed by Fire Chief Robert Holton effective July 1, after Holton warned the town's prior menu-based billing was undercollecting against a $675,000 revenue target. Chair Lea Anderson was named to coordinate Town Administrator Nan Balmer's evaluation.
