Wayland Select Board submits 11 town meeting articles, OKs $480,000 River's Edge note
WAYLAND -- January 14, 2018, Wayland Select Board advances $30,000 Town Building study in split 3-2 vote. The board voted Monday to submit 11 articles to the 2019 Annual Town Meeting warrant, including a Vice-Chair Doug Levine-sponsored proposal to evaluate whether the 50,000-plus-square-foot Town Building, which houses a function needing only 20,000 to 30,000 square feet, should continue as municipal offices or be redeveloped. Members William Whitney and Thomas J. Fay backed the study; Chair Carol B. Martin and member Christopher Reynolds had "mixed feelings" about scope and timing. The board separately approved a $480,000 bond anticipation note to TD Bank N.A. at 2.54 percent for River's Edge asbestos remediation, where the contract closed at $424,000 plus an $8,000 change order against a $790,000 appropriation. Marky Burke was appointed to the Senior Tax Relief Committee and Louise Reck to the Cultural Council.
