Wayland Select Board opens town meeting warrant, offers manager job to McCall
WAYLAND -- December 12, 2022, Wayland Select Board offers permanent town manager job to acting chief Michael McCall. Chair Cherry Karlson said the board voted 5-0 in a Saturday session to extend the offer after considering three finalists, and negotiations are underway. The board also voted 5-0 to open the annual town meeting warrant from Dec. 15 to Jan. 17, with town meeting set for May 1, 2023. Finance Director Brian Keveny presented a $32.7 million fiscal 2024 omnibus capital plan, down from $42.8 million in department requests, and disclosed roughly $35.7 million in outstanding appropriations across 128 open projects, including $11 million for the Council on Aging. Member Adam Gutbezahl pressed for ADA compliance reviews and Happy Hollow Elementary planning, saying "budget is a statement of our values." A $17 million MWRA connection and a $1 million MSBA school study remain outside the plan.
