Wayland Select Board backs FY21 budget letter, moves Loker roof toward ballot
WAYLAND -- January 27, 2020, Wayland Select Board endorses FY21 budget defense and advances Loker roof debt exclusion. The board voted 4-0 Monday to back Town Administrator Louise Miller's joint response to the Finance Committee, which identified about $75,000 in postponable requests while defending three "non-negotiable" hires: part-time town clerical help, a facilities business manager and an added school nurse. Finance Committee Chair Carol said the committee will recommend exempt debt for the $3.8 million Loker School roof, net borrowing of roughly $3.4 million after a $1,234,396 MSBA reimbursement, but not for the $2.2 million third phase of the high school athletic fields, saying design work must come first. Moody's reaffirmed the town's AAA rating. The board separately voted 4-0 to insert and support five CPA articles and four Select Board articles, signed a 3.17-acre conservation restriction off Training Field Road and appointed Brad Carver to the Historical Commission.
