Wayland Select Board puts Loker roof debt exclusion on March ballot
WAYLAND -- February 3, 2020, Wayland sends Loker Elementary roof to March ballot as debt exclusion. The Select Board voted 5-0 Monday to put the question to voters, following a Finance Committee recommendation to fund the project outside the levy. Town Administrator Louise Miller said the Massachusetts School Building Authority will reimburse up to $1.234 million of the $3.8 million project, with net cost to taxpayers estimated near $2.5 million after a prior $350,000 design appropriation. The board separately voted 5-0 to insert and 5-0 to support the warrant article. The School Committee withdrew its companion debt exclusion request for Phase 3 of the high school athletic complex. The board also approved a $50,000 allocation of Finance Committee–requested budget cuts, $15,000 from fire salaries, $22,500 from youth and family services supplies, $6,000 legal and roughly $6,500 from its own consultant line, and appointed former selectman Brian Laferle to the Audit Committee.
