Wayland Housing Authority backs 5-7 percent admin raises for 2023 budget

WAYLAND — October 27, 2022 — Wayland Housing Authority signals 5-7 percent administrative raises heading into 2023. Commissioners gave Executive Director Brian Boggia informal guidance to build the next operating budget around a 5 to 7 percent range for administrative staff and 3 percent for maintenance, with Commissioner Marie Eisenberg dissenting on grounds she lacked information on revenue impact. Chair Susan Weinstein cited the 8.7 percent Social Security cost-of-living adjustment as context and said increases should reflect "performance and cost of living." The board, including Mary Antes and Kevin Goodwin, also unanimously approved a September bill warrant of $40,096.78, a $1,069.35 credit card warrant, a $3,327.95 Hammond Road warrant, an updated utility allowance schedule and the five-year action plan. Boggia reported HUD allocated three additional Section 8 vouchers carrying $56,743 in funding, and the authority is seeking to grow its Family Self-Sufficiency grant from $18,000 to about $42,000. A HUD inspection is set for Nov. 18.
