Wayland Finance Committee recommends $250,000 capital stabilization deposit, two other articles

WAYLAND — February 5, 2025 — Wayland Finance Committee advances three warrant articles and weighs a late $206,000 stormwater grant request. The committee voted 5-0 to recommend a $250,000 capital stabilization fund deposit from free cash and 5-0 on a remote participation article, and 5-0-1 to recommend a $519,611 OPEB contribution, with $500,000 from taxation and $19,611 from enterprise transfers. Economic Development Committee Chair Rebecca Stanizzi pressed members to fund $250,000 in fiscal 2026 for Route 20 corridor design, calling it "our dime to make the phone call to leverage millions" in state TIP funding; Town Manager Michael McCall has kept the roughly $700,000 project in fiscal 2028. Finance Director Brian Keveney said a DPW stormwater request tied to a $124,000 state grant has "90 percent probability" of joining the fiscal 2026 budget. General fund borrowing in the revised five-year plan rises 25 percent versus last year's plan.
