Finance Committee · Meeting of September 14, 2026

Wayland's Finance Committee held its no-override position and approved its fiscal 2026 annual report 5-0. Vice Chair Iris Hoxha, presiding with Chair Carl Barnes absent, said version seven of Finance Director Brian Keveny's forecast and member William Huss's statistical work still show a likely fiscal 2028 levy gap between zero and $500,000, and that her thinking "has not changed." Member Brian O'Herlihy said the model assumes an override of roughly $800,000 and reported the schools may be carrying payroll too high. On capital, O'Herlihy said the middle school fire alarm project jumped from $200,000 in fiscal 2030 to $976,000 in fiscal 2028, the IT director added a $700,000 cybersecurity request, and fiscal 2028 levy debt already exceeds the town's $5 million guideline at just over $6 million.
