Wayland COA appoints Lusky, Sterling to building committee as permit awaited

WAYLAND — January 9, 2024 — Wayland Council on Aging fills two building committee seats as construction nears. The board on Jan. 9 unanimously accepted the resignation of PMBC representative Mark Foreman and appointed Greg Lusky and Vice Chair William Sterling to the project's two COA seats. Sterling, who said Lusky works in construction administration "24 seven," reported the contractor is awaiting a building permit submitted the day before Christmas; interior work could begin before spring and the projected completion remains mid-December 2024. Judy Currier urged the board to route community center rentals through Wayland Parks and Recreation, which already has a 22-page policy, while member Denise warned, "When we get bumped, we have no priority." Director Julie said a joint MWRTA medical-shuttle grant with Sudbury, backed by an Uber "rescue rides" dashboard, awaits a mid-February decision.
