Wayland building committee endorses Loker field contract amendments

WAYLAND — January 31, 2023 — Wayland building committee advances $40,000 in Loker field amendments amid pending PFAS data. The Permanent Municipal Building Committee voted unanimously Tuesday to recommend the town manager approve two Weston and Sampson amendments — including a $30,000 site construction administration item — plus a $10,023 change order to general contractor Cataldo for material-cost increases tied to a delayed start, lifting that contract to $119,235 above its $2.21 million base bid. Staff said soil management could cost as little as $62,000 if contaminated material stays on site or as much as $325,000 if 500 cubic yards must be trucked off. Member Mike pushed back on advancing the draft Release Abatement Measure plan before Feb. 7 PFAS lab results return, calling current detections "barely above reporting standards." The Public Involvement Plan meeting is set for Feb. 21, with the RAM plan due to state regulators in mid-March.
