Wayland building committee approves Loker field change orders totaling $22,063
WAYLAND — July 6, 2023 — Wayland's Loker Recreation field is tracking roughly $125,000 under its $3 million budget as work pushes toward an August 18 closeout. The Permanent Municipal Building Committee on July 6 unanimously recommended two change orders — $9,200 for tree trimming and $12,863 for contaminated soil management — with soil costs coming in far below an early range of $62,200 to $235,660. Remaining funds are expected to cover goals, benches and team seating originally cut from scope. On the Council on Aging community center, the team reported 9.8 percent contingencies plus roughly $400,000 unallocated and $579,000 in market escalation, but members challenged a 16-to-18-month construction schedule: "If we set out with an expectation of 16 to 18 months, it's going to take 16 to 18 months." The Stone Bridge project will go to bid next Thursday despite a lapsed Army Corps permit.
