Wayland building committee approves $196,815 library design amendment
WAYLAND — June 25, 2024 — Wayland building committee clears $196,815 library design amendment and a $46,587 senior center change order. The Permanent Municipal Building Committee voted 5-0 on June 25 to approve amendment two to task order five with the library's design team, covering services through construction administration and closeout for three separate projects — interior, site and elevator modernization — after the variable refrigerant flow HVAC replacement was dropped from scope. Architect Kim Buell said roughly $900,000 of the $2.485 million budget would remain unallocated. Members questioned a fee of about 10 percent of construction, but consultant Greg said splitting the work into three bid packages made savings unlikely. The committee also voted 5-0 to recommend change order No. 2 at the Council on Aging Community Center for $46,587.40, as OPM Bill reported a newly discovered leach line with hydrocarbon-smelling soil at the site. Builder's risk insurance came in near $47,000, well under the $150,000 budget.
