Wayland housing trust releases $140,000 to Good Shepherd Parish developer
WAYLAND — June 25, 2024 — Wayland's Municipal Affordable Housing Trust advances $140,000 to St. Anne's and endorses a Loker Street micro-unit project. Chair Michael Staiti said the town manager requested the early disbursement — part of a previously approved $250,000 commitment — so the Good Shepherd Parish developer could be reimbursed for a $140,000 building permit fee filed before fiscal year end to lock in affordable inventory credit. If the project fails, the money returns only via a town meeting transfer vote, a risk Staiti called manageable. The trust voted 4-0 to back a letter of support for developer Matt O'Connor's six-unit project at 67A Loker Street, run by Minuteman Arc for adults with disabilities; Andy Rickard said "85 percent are still at home with their parents looking for an opportunity." The board also authorized up to $5,000 for an attorney to draft condominium documents for the 12 Hammond Road Habitat for Humanity project.
