Wayland Selectmen approve ballot language for Oct. 2 marijuana ban vote
WAYLAND -- August 27, 2018, Wayland Selectmen unanimously approve ballot language for an Oct. 2 special election on banning marijuana establishments. The 5-0 vote came after a subset of the town's marijuana working group, including Town Clerk Beth Klein, rewrote the summary to make clear that a "yes" vote favors "adopting the below zoning bylaw to prohibit all types of adult-use marijuana establishments in the town." The board corrected two clerical errors before voting and said Jason Verhuski is leading public education. In separate 5-0 votes, the board added an asbestos-abatement article for the River's Edge site at 484-490 Boston Post Road to the special town meeting warrant, with no dollar figure yet, pending a Sept. 5 presentation by Town Engineer Paul Brinkman, and approved the sixth extension of the River's Edge Land Disposition Agreement to Feb. 28, 2019.
