Select Board resigns warrant after ballot error

Select Board · Meeting of October 5, 2026

Wayland's Select Board fixed a ballot error and moved $100,000 in leftover pandemic aid to a water project. Town Clerk Trudy Reid told the board a non-binding legislative-stipend question, Question 10, had been left off the November 3 warrant for Precincts 1 and 4 and was re-signed 5-0 after she caught the omission at a clerks' conference. The board also voted 5-0 to shift $100,000 in unused American Rescue Plan Act funds from the delayed Snake Brook Dam project to engineering for the town's MWRA water connection, over objections from member William Whitney, who said "I have no idea how much money is involved." Members separately approved an outdoor fire-pit and drink area for Broomstones, Inc., appointed 14-year-old Justin Chiu to the Human Rights, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, and authorized a letter backing a MassDEP grant to study algae-choked Dudley Pond.
