Wayland Select Board to oppose 12-unit 40B at 24 School Street
WAYLAND -- March 13, 2017, Wayland Select Board directs staff to draft letter opposing 12-unit 40B at 24 School Street. Board members instructed Town Administrator Nan Balmer and Town Planner Sarkis Sarkisian to prepare a letter to MassHousing objecting to the project's density, three-story massing on a roughly 37,000-square-foot lot, wetlands impacts, and what Sarkisian called application inaccuracies, including a parcel size listed as 28,000 square feet and a "conventional septic" that residents say is actually a cesspool. Selectman Joe pushed for stronger language, saying "I don't think we should be reserved in expressing our concerns." Resident Joshua Hyman of Caulfield Road delivered a 10-point critique and cited nearly 250 petition signatures. Separately, the board voted unanimously to extend the Mainstone Farm conservation restriction closing date from March 15 to April 12 and authorized Special Town Counsel Mark Lanza to amend the purchase and sale agreement.
