Wayland Select Board signals support for River's Edge closing, delays final vote

WAYLAND — January 27, 2021 — Wayland Select Board signals it will close on River's Edge, but waits for clean documents. Meeting remotely Jan. 27, the board emerged from executive session and voted to lift confidentiality on the 484-490 Boston Post Road redevelopment, with Chair Cherry Carlson saying five core documents — the 12th amendment to the land disposition agreement, two easements, a wastewater infrastructure development agreement and an escrow agreement — still need final versions from counsel. Selectman Tom Fay called the project's benefits "extraordinary," citing tax-base growth along the Route 20 corridor, while member Mary Antes noted the affordable units move Wayland closer to the state's 10 percent threshold. Member Dave and Selectman Lee Anderson declined to approve documents sight-unseen; Anderson said he wanted to vote "on what we're seeing." A consent calendar passed 4-0, authorizing Town Administrator Louise Miller to sign housing paperwork with DHCD.
