WAYLAND — October 24, 2025 — Wayland sets Dec. 11 special election on debt exclusion question. The Select Board voted 5-0 Friday to schedule the vote at the Town Building, 41 Cochituate Road, with polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. — the minimum 45-day window the town needs. Town Clerk Trudy Reid said the Board of Registrars will meet Nov. 3 to recommend early voting hours and that vote by mail will be offered using applications already on file. The board separately approved police details 5-0 over questions from member Tom Fay about cost. Members deferred signing an Acknowledgement Certificate tied to the pending Town Center sale after Town Manager Michael McCall said staff could not verify the representations in time, and took a first look at a draft payment-in-lieu-of-taxes policy seeking 25 percent of forgone taxes from nonprofits, which McCall called something the town "should pursue" given expanding tax-exempt uses.
