Wayland Select Board orders new environmental review of Loker Field
WAYLAND -- June 10, 2019, Wayland board orders independent LSP review of Loker Field before turf work proceeds. The Select Board voted 4-0 Monday to commission a licensed-site-professional paper review, estimated under $10,000, of prior environmental work at Loker Field, with funding likely from the Select Board or town administrator budgets rather than the Recreation Commission. Town Administrator Louise Miller said the review will be supervised by the board to preserve independence. Members also voted 4-0 to set the 2020 annual town meeting to begin Sunday afternoon, April 5, after clergy asked the town to avoid Passover dates, and approved $53,534.02 in outstanding town meeting expenses, including $28,704.06 still owed to the electronic voting vendor on a $63,704.06 contract and $22,688.50 to media vendor Thistle. Resident Lorraine Greif delivered a roughly 76-signature petition opposing a proposed Verizon cell tower at the high school, calling it unnecessary; Miller said Verizon has documented a coverage gap and next steps rest with the School Committee.
