Wayland board signals delay on Loker turf field's return to Town Meeting

WAYLAND -- May 20, 2019, Wayland Select Board urges pause on failed Loker turf field before any fall return. The board took no formal vote but spoke against rushing the Loker Recreation Conservation Area project, which fell short of a two-thirds vote in April, back to fall Town Meeting unchanged, with Chair Cherry Carlson saying she is "not comfortable bringing a big money project to fall Town Meeting if we can avoid it." Town Administrator Louise Miller reported that Wood Partners must now seek three ZBA variances on River's Edge, shifting site plan review for the entire project from the Planning Board to the ZBA and potentially adding three weeks. The board voted 4-0 to proclaim June 9 as Race Amity Day.
