Wayland Select Board finalizes interview script for town administrator finalists
WAYLAND -- July 2, 2018, Wayland Select Board locks in interview plan for three town administrator finalists. At the July 2 meeting, the board worked with Bernie Lynch and Sharon Flaherty of Community Paradigm Associates to assign questions and set a deliberation process for finalist interviews the following Monday, with candidates slated at 5:45, 6:45 and 7:45 p.m. Members revised a draft questionnaire, merging staff-management items, splitting communications to add a social media prompt, and softening a "managing through resistance" question into one on managing change, and agreed the chair would close with a question on the town's potential shift to a town manager structure under a Special Act. Lynch urged the board to "get to unanimity" through open discussion before any roll-call vote, and rejected a secret ballot. Mary Ann Peabody of the personnel board suggested a written first-and-second-choice ballot as a fallback. The payroll warrant was passed over; the board adjourned 5-0 at 7:16 p.m.
