Wayland Select Board extends town manager's contract three years

WAYLAND — March 24, 2025 — Wayland extends town manager's contract three years and swears in three officers. The Select Board returned from executive session Monday to announce a second amendment to Town Manager Michael McCall's employment agreement adding three years, citing his performance. Police Chief Ed Burman then presented Gabriel Lopez for swearing-in as a new patrol officer, Sean Fitzgerald for promotion to sergeant after 23 years on the force, and Mark Hebert for promotion to lieutenant. The board voted 5-0 to appoint commercial real estate manager Jeff Vecchio to the Economic Development Committee, where he said zoning is "hands down" the biggest barrier to filling Route 20 vacancies. Members approved $9,500 from town center gift funds for the multicultural Wayland Day festival but deferred a $45,575 request for the town's 250th anniversary celebration pending budget revisions and a legal review of the funding source. Housing Authority Chair Susan Weinstein delivered a $52,306 payment in lieu of taxes.
