Wayland Select Board elevates Levine to chair, Martin to vice-chair

WAYLAND -- June 3, 2024, Wayland Select Board elevates Doug Levine to chair, Carol Martin to vice-chair. The unanimous reorganization Monday followed a frank exchange in which Martin said "I really think it's my turn to be the chair" before agreeing to support the slate; new member Christopher Reynolds said he was reluctant to "fix something that isn't broken." The board also swore in three police officers, including new hire Rachel Pugh and promoted sergeants Mark Hebert and Tim Hennessey, and three firefighter-paramedics: Anna Pelovan, Evan Skouteris and Tim Oxley. Members approved an amended $12,990 intermunicipal agreement with the Regional Housing Services Office, covered for two years by CPC funds. Town Manager Michael McCall said off-site removal of contaminated soil at the Council on Aging site could run as low as $60,000, well below six-figure partitioning estimates, and warned of "several weeks" of project delay.
