Wayland Select Board approves single polling location for April town election
WAYLAND -- February 3, 2025, Wayland consolidates four precincts into one polling place for April town election. The Select Board voted 5-0 Monday to move all voting to the Wayland Town Building for the April 2025 annual election, accepting Town Clerk Trudi Reed's pitch that just 38 percent of November 2024 voters cast ballots on election day. Reed said the police, fire, schools, Council on Aging and DPW all backed the single-site plan, which eliminates police ballot transfers and frees the middle school gym. Finance Director Brian Keveney also presented a $108.5 million fiscal 2026 budget, up 4.03 percent, that funds full-day kindergarten, two new positions totaling $127,000, and a $537,000 reserve for the unsettled firefighters contract while preserving $991,000 in unused levy. A second forum on the former DPW garage at 195 Main Street drew sharp resident opposition to a proposed indoor sports facility, with most speakers favoring a grass playing field.
