Wayland Select Board approves outdoor seating for two restaurants
WAYLAND -- June 10, 2020, Wayland Select Board greenlights outdoor seating for two restaurants, defers a third. In unanimous 5-0 votes Wednesday, the board approved temporary outdoor dining plans for The Local, expanding from 18 to 38 outdoor seats, and for Giacomo's of Wayland, which will move tables onto Lyssa Avenue with planters replacing two adjacent parking spaces as vehicle barriers. A third application from the Dudley Chateau was held over after staff requested a scaled layout drawing and handicapped-accessibility details; board members signaled the proposed noon-to-9 p.m. hours were acceptable but said the residential neighborhood, with an abutter roughly 10 feet beyond the lot fence, warranted public review. Approvals run through Nov. 1 or until the governor's executive orders lift. The board also made five committee appointments 5-0 and reported zero new COVID-19 cases in the past week.
