Wayland Select Board adopts front-line worker resolution, refinances River's Edge note
WAYLAND -- April 3, 2020, Wayland Select Board honors front-line workers and refinances $525,000 River's Edge note. The board on April 3 unanimously adopted a resolution thanking doctors, nurses, EMTs, pharmacists, police and firefighters, awarded a 12-month bond anticipation note to Newburyport Bank at 1.72 percent, up from a prior 1.45 percent, and designated Police Chief Pat Swanick as the public safety official reporting to the attorney general on the town meeting recess. Town Administrator Louise Miller reported 16 confirmed COVID-19 cases (nine active), three clinical diagnoses and the town's first confirmed resident death, which did not occur in Wayland. The Board of Health voted earlier that morning to "highly recommend" masks, scarves or bandanas in public. Wastewater Superintendent Paul Brinkman said treatment plant flows have fallen to 17,000–18,000 gallons per day, well under the 52,000-gallon discharge permit.
