Wayland Select Board adopts 2023-2024 goals and swears in two firefighters

WAYLAND -- September 26, 2023, Wayland Select Board adopts 2023-2024 goals, swears in two firefighter-paramedics. Chair Bill Whitney administered oaths to Arthur Fenno and Chris DiBinardi, presented by Fire Chief Neil McPherson, who called both hires "very qualified." The board voted 5-0 to adopt nine goals after reworking the climate item to read "plan for and respond to the effects of climate change within the town"; member Adam Gutbezahl said the town was "past the point of promoting sustainability." Valerie Rose Thompson was appointed to the Senior Tax Relief Committee and Mike Spellman to the Route 20 South Landfill Visioning Committee, both through June 30, 2025. Town Manager Michael McCall reported a $30,000 MBTA zoning planning grant secured by planner Robert Hummel and a DPW shredding event set for Oct. 14.
