Wayland Finance Committee finalizes Annual Town Meeting report at March 20 working session

WAYLAND — March 20, 2024 — Wayland Finance Committee drafts Town Meeting report, eyes possible FY26 override. The committee spent its March 20 meeting on report prep, citizen-petition logistics, and a deep look at override history, with members noting five override years between 2003 and 2009 and none since. Finance Director Brian Keveny told the panel that flagged water-capital closeouts "do not exist," leaving the operating and capital budgets unchanged, and confirmed Article F edits are with KP Law. The committee declined to revisit its 5-1 vote on Article OO after the Select Board voted 4-1 against it on the town manager's recommendation; the Board of Public Works discussed but did not vote, and the Recreation Commission has not weighed in. An earlier vote on the solar compact citizen petition (Article KK) reportedly failed 2-2-1. Members will reconvene Monday to finalize the report for transmission by Tuesday morning.
