WAYLAND — March 14, 2024 — Wayland CPC recommends $296,000 for pool rehab but ties reimbursement to operator's license. The Community Preservation Committee voted 7-1 Thursday to send a reduced pool rehabilitation request to town meeting, cutting $75,000 for scaffolding and an inflatable bubble from an original $371,000 ask. Chair Susan Weinstein said the operator still owes roughly $8,000 on its town water account and that a 1998 bylaw allows denial of license renewal when municipal bills go unpaid; the operating permit expires June 30. "If they don't have authority to operate, then we won't give them the money," Weinstein said, with members agreeing reimbursement would be withheld until the operator is licensed. The committee also approved up to $4,750 from its administrative fund to appraise 4 Bennett Road, a wet parcel assessed at $112,000, and discussed a $12,000 supplemental for the 27 Sherman's Bridge Road demolition, where neighbors raised about $36,000 toward an estimated $48,000 cost.
