Wayland CPC advances six warrant articles, defers Eliza's Park request to 2027

WAYLAND — December 3, 2025 — Wayland CPC advances six warrant articles but defers $500,000 Eliza's Park request. The Community Preservation Committee on Dec. 3 recommended $60,000 from uncommitted funds for a new Housing Production Plan, $56,155 for Grout-Heard House rehabilitation, $12,000 for Heard Farm tree preservation, $8,905 for Cow Common loosestrife eradication, $2,000 for native pines at Sedge Meadow, and $75,000 for expanded conservation-area boardwalks at Hamlin Woods and the Trout Brook-Orchard Road connector. Chair Susan Weinstein said the Eliza J. Norton Foundation's Cochituate Ballpark request was "premature," noting Recreation Director Katherine Gardner-Wescott's testimony that the larger renovation is scheduled for fiscal year 2032 and could only move to fiscal 2028 with stakeholder agreement. Lesley Stewart voted no on the deferral. Wayland Archaeology Group's Tonya Largy won a commitment to attach archaeological monitoring conditions to every soil-disturbing project. A Dudley Pond water-quality article was held to January pending Community Preservation Coalition guidance.
