Wayland CPC closes town meeting hearing, overhauls 2025 application process

WAYLAND — April 11, 2024 — Wayland CPC closes annual hearing and rewrites its application playbook for 2025. The Community Preservation Committee, chaired by Susan Weinstein, closed its public hearing Thursday on articles heading to the May 14 town meeting, including a corrected ask of "not more than $196,000" for the Wayland Community Pool — $271,000 less $75,000 tied to the seasonal bubble and scaffolding. Vice-Chair Doug Stotz warned the indoor/outdoor allocation methodology "might be challenged" on the floor and said resident Ben Downs would speak to it. The committee left a roughly $28,000 affordable-housing consultant article in the uncommitted fund despite town counsel suggesting administrative funds. For 2025, members agreed to move the application deadline to Nov. 21, hold September and October pre-filing workshops, shift meetings to Wednesdays for hybrid access, cap sponsor presentations at 15 minutes, and require sponsoring boards to rank their projects.
