Wayland boards hear plans for 60-unit affordable senior project at St. Anne's

WAYLAND -- February 15, 2023, Wayland hears plans for 60-unit, 100 percent affordable senior housing at St. Anne's. The Select Board and Planning Board held a joint forum Wednesday on St. Anne Senior Village, a Planning Office for Urban Affairs proposal for 60 one-bedroom units on Archdiocese of Boston land off Cochituate Road, with rents restricted to households at 30, 50 and 60 percent of area median income. President Bill Grogan said 30 percent AMI equates to roughly $30,000 to $33,000 in annual income. Architect Jincy George described a U-shaped building stepping from two to three stories with a 124-foot facade on Route 27, set back 75 feet from property lines. Economic Development Committee Chair Becky Stanizzi recommended natural exterior colors and added evergreen screening. Windy Hill Lane abutter John Rutledge urged relocation to the existing parking lot, calling the current site's woods "beautiful." Town Planner Robert Hummel said staff are "very supportive of the project." A project eligibility letter was filed last week with the state.
