Wayland board appoints O'Herlihy, Hoyle to Finance Committee seats

WAYLAND — August 27, 2024 — Wayland appointing board fills two Finance Committee seats after a third candidate withdraws. The Finance Committee Appointing Board voted 3-0 on Tuesday to appoint Brian O'Herlihy to a term ending June 30, 2025, and Michael Hoyle to a term ending June 30, 2027. Chair Cherry C. Karlson led the meeting alongside Select Board Chair Bill Whitney and town moderator Miranda S. Jones. Third candidate Joseph Gauthier, a Boston Dynamics engineer, withdrew at the top of his interview, saying the other applicants had "way more experience." Hoyle, CFO at Lesley University, said he wanted to "cement a longer term now"; O'Herlihy, a 41-year resident, said he would serve one more year to "bridge the variance and information gap" left by the departures of Steve Correa and Kelly Lappin. The board also approved its draft annual report 3-0.
